CWShredder WILL work on Win95 again.
This is really not "new" news -- but it was new to me. I have just discovered (quite accidentally) that the latest version (2.19) of CWShredder WILL run on Win95.
After Merijn sold it to Intermute (since acquired by TrendMicro), CWShredder would not run on Win95. I just double checked. v2.14 would not, and v2.15 would not -- then I lost interest -- but today tried v2.19 on a whim, and it works fine.
Thank you TrendMicro!

Very cool.
Now if I could only get Spybot 1.4 to work on 95.

Yeah -- I still run v1.3 -- which seems to suck up the new definitions files OK, so I think it's still working.

Try downloading your SPYBOT updates from here:
http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail...s/1058994310/1
It downloads as an EXE file, which installs the new signatures. I just run it from the desktop. It seems to hunt out and find the SPYBOT engine all by itself.

cool. I'll try that. well I'm off to oldversion.com to get Spybot 1.3 again.
I guess I am going to stop sending them money if they no longer support my OS.

For the bad checksum problem while updating definitions. Try changing the location for the download updates from the default (I think it's See-Cure #1) to one of the Safer networking locations. Works for me so far.
Just trying to give others a friendly hand.
