Notebook Check Disk Looping, Etc...XP Pro
I am working on a notebook that is having issues. Here is what has been happening and steps taken:
1) When turning the computer on after placing it in a hybernate status, it returns to the login screen just fine. Then, when clicking one of the profiles to go back into doing work on the computer, it locks up. This has been going on for a couple of weeks.
2) Disk cleanup was ran and many files have been removed.
3) In an attempt to clear up the hybernate issue, a Check Disk was set to perform to start the troubleshooting process, which requires rebooting for the Check Disk to perform. Upon rebooting and as the system loads, Check Disk starts up and runs completely. As it finishes up and begins to continue with loading windows, an error like screen briefly appears and then the computer reboots to the reboot screen to select startup mode due to invalid restart - safe mode options, last known configuration, start normally, etc. If start normally is selected, it goes through the Check Disk process again and another error is produced causing the computer to reboot. Thus, a continuous cycle / loop.
Is there a way to make the system take the time to let you see what the error is that it is finding as it flashes by before rebooting?
How should I go about fixing this endless Check Disk looping?
How should the hybernate issue be resolved? I know the Check Disk issue has to come first, so it may be a matter of waiting for that to be resolved before moving to this issue.
Computer is running XP Pro.
Thanks,
Jody Wood
