    Trend Micro and Remote Desktop

I am using PC-cillin Internet Security by Trend Micro. I also want to have Remote Desktop access to this computer. However, I'm not sure what I need to configure in PC-cillin Internet Security in order for Remote Desktop to work. The computer has XP Professional. What do I need to do to allow Remote Desktop use on this computer which is using PC-cillin's firewall?

Thanks in advance for all your help,
    Jody Wood

In "theory" when you launch Remote - Trend should detect it and ask you if you want to allow it to run. Saying yes usually does the trick..

I tried the "theory" approach, but it did not work. It did not even ask about whether or not it should be allowed.

I hope I have not confused the question. I have a PC that has Trend Micro security software installed on it. I also want to be able to access this computer from other computers off-site via the Internet using Remote Desktop. I have Remote Desktop enable on this computer. However, when I attempt to connect to this computer from elsewhere, I am unable to do so because for some reason the Trend Micro firewall is blocking access. If I disable the firewall and try again, it works fine - like it should. But, I'm not going to run without the firewall. There has to be a way to configure Trend Micro that allows me to use Remote Desktop like this. If there are any other suggestions, please let me know.
    Thanks,

If you can't get an exception added for the application, opening TCP port 3389 inbound should be sufficient.

What exe or program should be referenced for Remote Desktop? Remote Desktop is part of the Control Panel - System Properties - Remote tab in XP. Is it even run via a program? Or is it a service?
    Thanks,

Does this look configured right? Or should there be more specific settings? It does work this way, but I want it to be fairly secure.
    Thanks,

    That should be fine.

I don't know what application Remote Desktop shows up as to firewall apps; by the time i can connect to RD here at home I've already logged into the local network through VPN so it trusts me.

You should be able to see which application got blocked in the logfiles of PC-Cillin.
Pcc-Cillin > Summary > Event logs > Personal Firewall Logs
