program install problem
recently when i try to install some programs (but not all), i get a message saying 'windows xp setup. please go to the control panel to install and configure system components'. is this due to the prgrams that i am trying to install or have i angered windows in some way?

I thing you have angered Windows, and now must pay atonement to the Windows gods Does it give any indication of which components at all?
In any case, get your WinXP CD handy, then go to Start>Run and type "sfc /scannow" without the quotes. That'll replace any missing or corrupt system files. It never hurts to try that first.

i have no idea what components it wants me to install. all i get is the error message that i stated above. the thing is that when i go to add or remove programs from the control panel, i can install the progs from there. this is odd is it not?
i have no xp cd. i am one of those lucky boys who had xp preinstalled when i bought my pc. any ideas?
