[RESOLVED] printer/file sharing trouble
Hello. I have been trying for two days to get my wireless network up and running. I have a Compaq PC running XP, and a Sony Vaio notebook also running XP. I am using a Linksys wireless router. Internet connection is high speed cable. I have been able to get the laptop to aceess the internet just fine, but I cannot get the two to share files or the printer (old HP DeskJet 722C). It seems to be an acceess problem, because I am getting error messages that say "contact the administrator to find out if you have access permissions" when trying to access the PC from the laptop. When trying to add a network printer to the laptop, I get the error message "Windows cannot connect to the printer. Either the printer name was typed incorrectly, or the specified printer has lost it's connection to the server.". I have enabled sharing on the printer through the PC. Not sure where to go from here. I am not all that great with computers, but I am not afraid to jump into this to get it working! Thanks for any and all help in advance!
