hello all,

i have always used amd cpu's mostly due to cost however' i am thinking of putting togeher a new system. after looking through previous post's, i still have a few questions? a) for some reason i have always thought that pentium 4 performed more instructions per cycle then amd but was hampered by a differently configured pipeline, however i am now lead to believe that the amd performs 9 op p/cylcle and the pentium 4 or 5 op. p/cycle. also the L1 cache
on a pentium 4 seems incredibley small a few kb? any way with the drastic increase's in FSB speed from intel, this should have an effect on overall speed/effcientcy? also i have read good things about intells celeron line of cpu's (basicly a p4 with less cache) and it leads me to believe its simply an image/status problem with celeron as it is the lesser(i.e. cheap!) intell cpu. as pent4 is still outside my $$range i am considering a celeron and am only interested in overall performance not "name" brand. if yugo made a decent cpu for a decent price i'd buy a yugo. any thoughts?
any body switch to cereron from amd? thanks john
