Internet Issue When Running Server...
im trying to run a http server from my home computer and im having alot of trouble... heres my internet setup...
- i have verizon online dsl that is being distributed among many computers via a linksys router, the computer i am trying to make a server is connected through a CAT5E cable, not through wireless
- the server/computer is configured so that it connects to the router through a static IP and the router is configured so that all requests for port 80 are sent to the static ip of the server/computer
-the internet service i am using connects through a dynamic ip address and because of this i have set up an account with the dns service at www.no-ip.com and installed the client to update the ip address...
-i installed the web server program "abyss web server" (http://www.aprelium.com/) and made a test page in microsoft word as an html dcument, attempted to connect through the name given by the DSN service (www.kb1ibh.no-ip.com) and i have complete sucess however when i ask a friend to try to access is, it tells them it cannot access the page requested (error #404 if i recall correctly...)
i need to know if there is somthing i am doing wrong or if there is a step i missed when stting up the server or even if my ISP is screwed up...
any response is helpful... thanks in advance
(yes i did disable the windows xp firewall and zone alarm durring this process)
