XP doesn't recognize CD Drives
When going into My Computer, my cd-rom and -rw drives are not present. In the device manager they have the yellow ! on them.
So, I uninstalled them, then had them auto detected, but the installation had problems again.
I uninstalled them again, then rebooted and had the same problem. They are detected, and the names are in the device manager, but they have the exclamation marks.
The error message in properties says
Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.
The troubleshooting only suggests uninstall/install.
the system restore I tries said it can't complete system restore. (that never seems to work for me anyway).
The last item that I did before the problem was uninstall Ulead 6.5 trial version. I think that I made a mistake when I allowed the uninstall to remove the shared files.
So I tried to reinstall it in hopes that it would replace the files and fix the registry, but it didn't.
Any ideas on how the registry can be repaired to access my cd drives?
Thanks
