Hello,
I am posting this on behalf of a friend who is at present experiencing problems with Win ME. He was trying to uninstall a piece of software ironically called PC Friendly which seems to be a DVD player like Power DVD that came bundled on a DVD of Perfect Storm.
Unfortunately PC Friendly did not live up to its nameHe tried to locate in Add / Remove Progs - not in there. He tried Find > Files / Folders but before completing the search an error dialog box came up stating Rundll32.exe not found.
In the last few minutes he has been trying to reinstall ME over itself to put in place this errant file with his ME Install CD using install with cd support. However it goes through the various stages of install then goes back to the A Prompt and his Floppy Drive is not functioning ( not related to this error its finito.)
As far as I know he has both Win ME CD and all files on a smaller boot drive (a seconds 3 or 4bg hard disk.)
How can he best recover his system or should he just Format and start from scatch.
I hoped he could just search the ME CD and copy over this file to overwrite / replace.
Strangely enough the Win ME Restore Point which he tried was also of no use - the minute it restarted, the same Rundll error materialised.
Any thoughts / observations would be most welcome.
This is not urgent.
I wish all members a V. Happy 2003 and thank you for your assistance on this and every other occasion I have posted.
PS - I am logging off to help reduce the beer surplus we have in the house (4 Germans and 1 Limey![]()
) But I will post back as soon as poss.
Take Care.
