Bought Computer With XP Home on It
I have a couple of questions. I've recently bought a computer that is about 9 months old with XP home version on it. My first question is Can I change the registered owner to myself? I kind of doubt it, but I thought I would throw it out anyway. Second....I find that when I do a disk clean up on XP it shows me the amount of space it will clean up in KB's instead of MB's. Is this a XP thing or how the previous owner set it up? I had Windows 98 up till two weeks ago and XP is all new to me but I like it so far. I've had to go in and do alot of tweaking as the previous owner admitted she knew nothing about a computer and decided it was more trouble than it was worth. I had to run easy cleaner and ad aware and instal AVG and do alot of cleaning house just so I could navigate and see what was what. So, any help would be greatly appreciated as far as these questions. If I can change the measurements of file size, how do I do this? Oh....One more thing...Unfortunately, I have to use AOL here in the sticks as there is no other dial up that is a local connection. When I bring up Outlook express(I have my Hotmail configured to come through it) it brings up a prompt that there is already a connection to the internet and do I want to try and find it on this server or hang up and dial AMerica Online? I've used AOL for years and never ran into this problem with my other computer and I just click on find on this server and it works fine. Then it prompts me each time I open my outlook express, for my hotmail password. My windows 98 never did this. Is this a XP thing or a previous owner thing? I'm sorry to be so long winded, but as I said, I'm just curious and will appreciate any help! Thanks!
