I just got my hands on an old gateway 2000 that has the i430 tx mobo in it specifically the oaaes version that came with a p166 processor I read on gateways site that it could be upgraded to a 233 and checked what the jumper settings were for the 233 I changed the jumpers to match the 233 left the 166 cpu in it and added a large heat sink and fan...rebooted its working like a charm so far (I am typing this post on it) Is it supposed to be that easy? I went to pcpitstop.com and let it do some tests and passed all except video memory and conventional memory as I am using the on board video that is only 2 megs and only have 32 mb of sdram in it for testing purposes but it is doing everything fine for now.....I do have one more question....I have a celeron 366 processor that I want to put in a board and overclock for personal use...does the board have to meet 366 as a minimum to use this chip or can I get say a 500-700 mhz mobo what are your suggestions....
