Hey Graphic artists... macromedia director questions
Hi all,
My wife took on a new project scanning old family pictures and making a executable full screen movie with Director 8.0 and used mp3 files as soundtrack. She then burned them on CD's
She has several problems and I'm hoping I could be her hero
One, She made the movie using her new 1G piii with 128 meg RAM and 100 FSB. the movie plays in sync with the timing of the soundtrack. iow the length of the movie coincides with the length of the soundtracks.
However, when playing back the movie in other older, slower systems the tansition frames are slower, therefore the music ends much sooner than the pictures, in effect the movie finishes silently until the next set where the movie continues. this symptom also happens using our childrens Cyrix mx86 300Mhz with 128 meg RAM using 66 bus speed. and even older k6 running on 95 with 16 meg RAM is even further behind.
The problem seems to be from the transition from one frame to the next. Any way for the program to dump and load the frames better?
Another problem she is experiencing is the antivirus, even with her speedy system, I have discovered she needs to disable her Mcaffee program as the proggie causes intermittant skips as the movie runs, while for most of us techies, it's simple enough to remember to exit the antivirus program before the movie, but for other users, they will experience skips and even screensaver or power management surprises.
I'm hoping for a way such as a batch file to temporarily disable such undesirable programs when running the movie. Can it be done?
One last question, is there a plug-in or another movie program that will give a picture fade out with a new picture fade in effect? I've seen such effects on tv and thought it would be a cool transition for a project such as this.
Hope I explained this post in a sense, I'm better as a "under the hood" guy than a graphic artists. and I'm only trying to help my wife make a better product.
Any questions, fire away, I'll try to answer them as best as I can.
