Adsl modems in uk
Ok i have adsl with worldonline (now tiscali)
and i want to use a internal modem with it.
do i HAVE to use the usb modem they supplied a green stingray looking thing
which is a alcatel speed touch usb modem(which can hit speeds of 8mb/sec)
or can i use another modem ?
and will i see much of an increase really is it worth paying the extra money for another modem ?
i only ask this is because usb standard 56kb/s modems are SOFTWARE i was wondering is this the same with adsl usb modems?
i live in uk with 512kbps adsl connection
another question a friend of mine who lives in sweden says he connects his network card straight into a wall socket and sets up network settings for his adsl connection is the wall socket his adsl device and could i do this ?.
thanx mike
