[RESOLVED] Checking For Hard Drive Errors
Windows XP Pro
service pack 3
Pentium 2.8 GHz
1 GB ram
If I try to run "Auslogic Disk Defrag" I get this message. "Your disk might contain errors. Run the check disk tool to check the volume for errors and fix them. I go to start>accessories>command prompt. On the black screen I get C:\documents and setting\rachel. If I type CHKDSK I get "warning, F parameter not specified. Running CHKDSK in read only mode. Then there are 12 "file record segment is unreadable". Then the line "Errors found. CHKDSK cannot continue in read only mode".
Am I even on the right path? What is the "F" parameter? Do you need the numbers of those record segments?
Thanks
