XP Pro Keeps Crashing
Hi, I just installed XP Pro with SP3 on a Gateway E-4000 with 2 GB ram and 2.4 ghz CPU. I keep having a problem with services failing and the need to reboot. I have re-installed XP to get to this point after having difficulty updating drivers. I think that the chipset drivers were causing problems. This is an older PC, it was introduced in 2002 and I was given it to try and salvage it. It originally came with XP home edition, but I couldn't locate the service packs so I installed XP Pro.
I was going to install Driver Manager to help with the driver installation as I have this on another machine and it's now free. Any recommendations for installing the drivers as I had a problem before with the chipset driver? Are there other things that I can check that might keep the system from crashing? When is not worth the effort to continue? Thanks in advance for any help!!
