Linksys e2500 Wi-Fi Speed Question
I currently have 2008 Linksys N Router for my desk top and work lap top. I was having trouble adding a new laptop for wireless connection…hard wired the new lap top works fine. For the wireless setup, the Cisco box needs the SSID and key and it’s always been secure. Also, with Charter my speeds are around 25-30/5 Mbps.
Rather than resetting the old router I decided to upgrade and bought a Linksys E2500 Dual Band. I also read review that new Linksys routers were easy to set up. I haven’t opened the package yet.
I will be using my lap top downstairs and “maybe” for Netflix. This router cost around $73.00.
I’m sure this router will do a good job but I was curious if there are higher models (around $100.00 - $149.00) that would provide faster Wi-Fi speeds or are they all about the same? I don’t have a huge house and I’m the only one using the router. This is my main concern/question.
Also, the Best Buy rep mentioned an adapter for my new lap top to get the Wi-Fi signal in case the router downgrades to my home PC. My home PC is has Windows 7 premium, an Intel i7 and 8GB RAM. My new laptop has Windows 7 with an i5 and 4GB RAM. He wasn’t pushing the adapter…just info and I haven't bought an adapter. I only used BB as I had rewards points to burn.
Thanks,
Mike
