Changing motherboard
Here's what I'd like to do: Change out the motherboard in my present computer with a new and more powerful one. Also change the CPU to a dual core AMD. Stuff as much RAM as possible on the new motherboard. Install a new video card. But, try to use my existing hard drives(eide)and my Trois Hard drive selector switch. Reason for all of this: the old motherboard is getting along in years and just doesn't seem to have the power necessary to run Windows 7 Home Premium as well as I would like. I have Win7 installed and running OK but having trouble editing video or doing any multi-tasking. My current board is an Gigabyte GA-7VAXP with 2 GB RAM installed on it. The front side bus has a max of 333, and the CPU is a AMD Simpron 3000+ running at a reported 1.2 gHZ? I've upgraded this box several times, but hate to loose my Trois HD selector switch(the switches are no longer made) by changing to SATA hard drives. Any thoughts on all of this? Thanks.
