A Most Excellent TIM
Hey gang...I'm currently doing a major system upgrade. When reinstalling the Thermalright ULTRAe cpu cooler (having to use a new base plate for it), I decided to try out the Chill Factor thermal paste that came with the cooler instead of my trusty Arctic Silver 5. Wouldn't you know it...I'm experiencing LOWER idle/load temps on an overclocked i7 920 cpu (3.6ghz) than I was on a Q9450 cpu that was at stock speed(2.66ghz)...occasionally oc'ed to 3.4. Temps are anywhere from 3 to 5 degrees cooler on the new cpu. No change to the cpu cooler or intake fans or the application method.
This Chill Factor TIM is pretty amazing stuff...not to mention there is no "cure time" as with Arctic Silver and it is non-conductive.
Just thought some folks here might want to check it out and/or keep it mind if the subject ever pops up on the forum.
