I have the above device on an XP Professional machine. Ever since I bought it new a few years ago the Microtek Scanner Configuration (MSC) "utility" would pop up every now and then causing me to click ok or cancel just to get it off my screen.

The MSC utility started to pop up every 30-60 sec which is a pain in the ass. I corrected this through out the years by doing a complete uninstall of Scan Wizard which is the software and driver for the scanner. This did not get rid of the problem but made the MSC utility not pop up as often.

Lately the utility is popping up constantly and the uninstall and reinstall does not seem to work. The only way I can stop this behavior is to disconnect the scanner.

I am not sure what else to do at this point as a google search did not show anything about this problem and neither did a search at the Microtek website. Part of me is wondering if this 6 year old scanner itself is causing the problem
