I had this function a long time ago (see below) but cant remember whare I got it from.

It would cause a page to be loaded from the cache (assuming you have been there before) instantly then it would check to see if it had changed and either auto reload the page or give you a status bar icon to tell you the page needed reloading.

Anyone know of this.

I can't remember if it was a stand alone program that did just this or part of something else (ad blocker, pre-fetcher etc) and it could have been from any time from about 2000 onwards.

It probably ran as its own proxy and kept its own cache, as what I would normally would do with internet software that ran as a proxy would be to setup IE to run through the proxy and use the software and the Mozilla browser to aceess the internet direct.

I now have a mobile modem and sometimes when downloading files it reports the proper max speed but browsing can sometime be a lot slower than I would expect so I am trying thing to speed it up.
