I have a Thinkpad T30 which I had dropped at some time or another. Anyways, after that the video had stopped working, so I opened it up to jiggle the video cable until it worked. It was working fine for a minute or so and I decided to put it all back together and bring in a band to express my success. However, when I put it all back together, I tried to power it on and it would flash up for just a moment and then power back off, on or off the power from the wall. Now, it will only sometimes try to power up when I hit the power button; all of the green lights on the keyboard indicators will flash up and then just power off completely. Most of the time, it will not do that, however. I tried this with a charged battery and coming directly from the wall.

What could be the problem? A friend of mine told me it could be the internal power regulator gone bad, but I want a second opinion.
