I was reading advices and instructions given by some of you good people who are trying to help someone to go back from Vista to WinXp.

One advice about installation of drivers went as follows:
Remember to install your hardware drivers in this order basically after the operating system is installed.
1) Motherboard chipset driver
2) Video driver
3) Sound driver (if not offered with chipset driver)
Then driver(s) for Printer, Scanner, and other hardware

I am trying to re-install WinXP Pro (with SP2) over an existing XP on a desktop.

I do not have any recovery disk, because it is a used computer given to me by a friend - he said he messed up XP so much that he did not know how to untangle his sins, and does not want to spend any money to fix it, although I can see it is still functioning, except for a few pieces of software that he got it from the 'wrong places', which he might have used and they might caused some conflicts... maybe inside the Registry (e.g. DVD/CD Rom which cannot play DVD movies, etc.)

It is a Model Hp/Compaq DC7100. Running WinXP I used a software called PC Wizard to find out that it mainboard is HP0968h, and the Chipset is Intel i915GL.

I have a disk, definitely of this desktop, with the following drivers:
(a) Video
(b) Audio
(c) Ethernet Network Card (Broadcom)

Questions:
If I do a fresh install of Windows, with an OEM WinXP Pro (that has SP2 included), but no drivers:
(a) Do I have to re-install the Motherboard Chipset Drivers,
(b) If so, where can I find the Motherboard Chipset Drivers for this desktop.

I have posted questions on installing WinXP a couple of days ago, and I got some advices. Now as I go deeper into the 'how', I have the above questions. I do not want to mess up with the installation.

Appreciate very much if you good people can help me.

Newbie.
