ip address issue
Hi folks,
2 issues going on at the moment, not sure if they are related.
1st issue is spyware related and i have posted http://discussions.virtualdr.com/sho...d.php?t=231481
the 2nd issue is that the PC (PC is XP home sp2'd, 256 ram, 2.8 ghz proc) gets an ip address 0.0.0.0 off her router. Thing is, now that I have the PC over here and on my own router it does exactly the same thing. I have 5 other PC that connect to my router without any trouble (not all same time, its only a four port!!! )
So basically here is what is happening/not happening:
Network Adapter Description
Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC
The connection is named Local Area Connection 3
Looking at the actual connection status:
General Tab, Connection, Status Acquiring Network address (it continuously displays this)
Support Tab, Connection Status, Address Type: Invalid IP Address
Repair does not work
DCHP is set to Obtain Automatically
No Firewall is present/installed/running
In command prompt I have tried Release and Renew, with no joy
In Device manager I have "uninstalled" the driver, rebooted and had the drivers "reinstall" automatically.
I have tried various configurations in the TCP/IP properties and removed/reinstalled the TCP/IP stack
All to no avail.
Any ideas? Of course if you need any more info, please ask.
many thanks
Phil
