[RESOLVED] Memory add-on question
Memory match
I'm looking to add another Gb of RAM to my computer. It presently has 1 Gb of PC3200 RAM from Kingston. I've gotten some info with a hardware utility:
Manufacturer Kingston
Part Number K
Serial Number 7B209A2F
Capacity 1024 MBytes
Memory Type SDRAM DDR
Speed PC3200 (200 MHz)
Data Width 64 bits
Voltage SSTL 2.5V
Error Correction None
Refresh Reduced (.5x)...7.8 µs
I'm wondering how necessary it is to match the four numbers (CAS delay, RAS precharge, RAS to CAS delay, and RAS active time) that are included in many RAM descriptions. I can't seem to find an exact match, even from Kingston, and I can't find what these numbers are for my existing RAM. I guess the question is, will any stick of PC3200 work.
Another question I have is why the speed listed by my utility is 200 MHz, when it is DDR 400 RAM. Is it related to the fact that I have a 64 bit processor? Just curious.
I will appreciate any input.
