Slave hard drive does not show up.

XP Home
I added a 40 gig slave to and existing 40 gig master.
Both show in the bios
Both show in computer management.
The slave does not show up in My Computer
Why not?

Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-UD2H AM3 motherboard
16 GIG Ram,
AMD FX 8350, 8 core
2 x 1gig sata 3 ,,
1 X 24" wide screen moniter ,
2 x 17' secondary moniters
1 x 21" secondary moniter
Corsair Power
Corsair Hydro cooler H 60
1 x blueray burners
Windows 8.1 x 64 Professional

Professional DOS dummy.
