many of you may not have heard of this yet, but you can get gmail at your own domain now.

so, like, [email protected] or even a free subdomain from dyndns or freedns.afraid.org

I have two of these, one that is myname.name and a free subdomain from afraid, terra.chuui.jp

you sign up for this by going to http://www.google.com/a/
you have to set up the DNS options following the instructions at google.. which is a little bit advanced..., but anyone who can follow instructions should be able to figure it out.
anyways, now create another account. I called mine root [at] terra.chuui.jp and then go under email settings and have all mail addressed to an unknown account forwarded to root [at] terra.chuui.jp. this way you can use anything [at] terra.chuui.jp you want.

so, essentially when I sign up for a service, I go servicename [at] terra.chuui.jp or servicename [at] myname.name. this way, I'll know if they release my information and you'll be able to organize your email.. knowing where most the spam comes from.
also, this reduces random spam greatly.. as no one randomally emails a subdomain very often =)

lastly, this doesn't require any money or a dedicated server handeling your mail. I could easily have my server do email, but I don't trust it to have the uptime required for it. google on the other hand will do this. besides, everyone knows gmail's service is pretty damn good.

lets see how many spam crawlers go over virtualdr.com...
