Hi All, bit of a wierd problem i get 'em all, Not Really serious but defenatly anoying!

My system is an HewlettPackard 8730 UK version Athlon850, with TNT2, SB1024, 512mbRAM...Win98 1st Edition (couldn't get SE to work (slow file transfer n stuff))

Think this is easyist way of explaining the prob...
When i go into display properties/screen saver/settings and in the ADVANCED POWER MANAGEMENT PROPERTIES There should be the following:
1. system standby (60 mins)
2. turn off monitor (30 mins)
3. turn off hard disks (60 mins)

basically #2. "turn off monitor" is missing totaly, there is just a blank space where it used to be, also when i 1st noticed this i also discoved that refresh rate was set manually to 85hz insteed of optimal (85hz)

If i set other 2 settings that are left to "never" the monitor still shuts down after 10mins which was what i last set it to b4 it disapeared, i have tryed restoring several old backups and this still did not fix it, i have even reinstalled from scratch and its ok untill i install any version of TNT2 detonator graphics drivers. I dont understand i thought (and still do) a image backup was suposed to restore everything.

The setting has disapeared (huh??) but it still activates its-self(shuts down the monitor) this is becoming quite anoying as i hav 2 move the mouse every 8ish mins when burning CD or watching a film etc, Any Ideas on fixing it

Is it possible that bios or reg settings could be causing this??? or is it more likely that graphics card is knackered???

If u need any more info just ask, this pc is doing my head in, its just 1 thing after another. i thought that u should also know that i am not using the supplied WinSE recovery CD because all i get is total lockups when playing games so i abandoned it and its never crashed on a game since (3weeks) only dvd's a few times!

So as u can imagine i am not overly impressed with the tolal package i bought, and because i didnt get fed up with the main probs till after a month, HP want me to pay for support (nice1 HP)...ahh well, life init...

so if any1 out there has had same prob wiv power management then could you be kind enough to share some help wiv me...

Thanx in advance for any help, most appreciated.
