I was wondering if I gave you the information you could help me edit the config.sys and autoexec.bat files? I have tried but am at a point that I don;t know what else to do.

A couple of things that have worked:

1) Make a copy of the Restore floppy. Add the driver for the new CD-ROM drive to the copy of the Restore floppy. Make sure it loads in the Config.sys. The OAKCDROM.SYS file off from a Win98 system (or boot disk) will work with almost every IDE CD-ROM drive.

It's been a while since I've had to modify one of these disks, I remember the Config.sys & Autoexec.bat as having a lot of different sections for different types of CD-ROM drives. I'd have to take a look at the Config.sys on your Restore floppy if you'd like some help on how to change it.

2) Boot with a Win95 or Win98 boot disk with CD-ROM support, Win98 usually works best. Put the Restore CD in, change to the CD-ROM drive drive letter (usually E: ) and look on the Restore CD for a command that starts the Restore process - like RESTORE.BAT.

3) Put the old drive back in long enough to install Windows. This usually isn't an option, the drive is dead or in the trash by then.
