About System Restore and ScanDisk
Lately it seems that my computer is only saving Restore points about once a month around the 12th. Am I doing something wrong or should I not worry? I discovered this back in early November when a surprise unwanted addition was made to my toolbar (I use Google) that I didn't recognize so I tried to get rid of it via Add/Remove Programs. It locked up the system. A second attempt did the same thing and it raised red flags. So I tried to do a System Restore - only it went back nearly a month as the latest one. I checked last month (out of curiosity) and the last SR date showing was about a month after the previous one. And again now. I'm curiously worried.
Secondly, other than telling me to run ScanDisk in Safe Mode, is there any reason why it doesn't seem to want to run all the way through because of an improper shutdown? If I run it on command, no problem. It only seems to happen after an improper shutdown - which rarely occur but do happen.
Addtionally, I am not interested in updating my OS to XP. I hope that is not suggested. All of my Windows and ME updates are current and I use IE6. My av is avast. And I use AdAware regularly and keep all things updated. Thanks.
