    Resolved {RESOLVED}System isn't seeing both the DVD & CD-Rom

    I'm using Windows XP Pro (for those that don't remember).

    I've just noticed this issue, and so the last time I remember using both the DVD and CD-Rom's are about 4 weeks ago. I've tried several things to resolve this to no avail. I've restored the Registry twice, Uninstalled the drivers several times and the system still isn't seeing or recognizing the driver(s), Restoring or reverting to the previous driver doesn't help either.

    Here are two images, included is Device Manager and what is shows, and the Properties of each hardware and what it states about both drives. If you have a fix for this problem it will be very much appreciated, plus you will be my hero...

    Looks like they're both on the same data cable connected to the same controller. That's probably where the problem lies. Either the data cable is bad or possibly the controller. Have you checked to make sure the cable hasn't came loose?

    I've not checked to see if the IDE cable has come loose, but they are on two different IDE cables. I'm not having very good luck finding new drivers, if that is what I need...

    Here's what MS has to say about your error code;

    I've tried MS suggestions other than editing the Registry myself (would have no idea where to start there).

    It's definitely not the hardware or cables, 'cause I switched the HDD with another one that I've not used in a while and the OS recognized the DVD and CD-Rom drives. So it looks to be a Registry or Driver issue somewhere...
    I still need to resolve this. This is my first major issue on this system in over one to two years. I've been running this installation of XP for about 4 years without any problems...

    Its pretty easy to fix via the registry if you follow the steps, just make sure you back it up first.(File|Export)
