DFS (Distributed File Services) Problem
Hello,
I am using Win2K (active directory) and want to set up DFS. I have set it up. In this case it is a shared installation point for software, between two servers. Once I establish the share, the clients hit the share (mapped drive) to install software. However, the source appears to be random. So I have an office in Hayward, CA and Vancouver, WA connected by T1. I can't figure out how to control which sharepoint is used. Therefore, in most cases, the client uses to first server, which is local to Hayward. I can tell this because the installs are slow in Vancouver.
Apparently, there is some relationship that circumvents the mapped drive (ie, I have Vancouvers mapped to the local share).
The install point is not very time critical, but I want to set up DFS for price sheets and such that are time critical.
Any ideas?
Thanks, pat
