    external hard drive enclosure

I recently purchased a USB 2.0 external hard drive enclosure from compusa to use with my 300 GB segate 7200.8 hard drive. So far I've had no problems but I want to make sure that cooling is adequate. There are no fans in the enclosure but it doesn't seem to be getting hot when I touch it on the outside. Should I add more cooling and if so, how can I?

P.S. The enclosure is plastic but I have the opportunity to get an aluminum enclosure cause I'm still in the 21 day return period (if aluminum is better for heat dissapation).

Hi, you should have no problem with heat on an external drive as it is outside the case away from the components that really get hot. I would recommend the aluminum case as it would be better protection than plastic. Sidewinder
