    burning cd's

what is the best file extension for making music files as small a possible to share? I want to exchange with my brother and we are at odds with the file extensions. I save my music as mp3 on the harddrive.

Make a data CD with your music you cam get up to 100 songs per CD .But it will only play on computer , so better to use CD-RW

If you can get ahold of mp3 editing software you can reduce the side of a mp3 by lowering the bitrate, the higher the bitrate the larger the file. The only problem with this is you'll sacrafice the quality of the music to make the file smaller.

If I was going to share with my brother (and I will when he finally breaks down and buys a burner), I'd just make copies onto erasable media and send him those. He can then copy them, erase them, record something for me on them and send them back. No .mp3 losses to care about, no wasted CD's (if either doesn't want it, we can just not copy it before erasing).

If you want them as small as possible, I guess .mp3 would be the way to go, but that's up to you.

    NoBob,

Ya know, so as to enable the sharing process to begin sooner, it certainly would be acceptable for you to buy him a burner. LOL.
Please remember to post back whether your problem is resolved or
not, so that others may gain from the knowledge.

    Hehehe

Since I "out-own" him something like 25-to-1, it's going to be pretty one-way anyway. The least he can do is get his own burner

I'm going there in May. He's probably holding out for me to do the installation
