Advertisement in VDr threads
I think we can all agree that advertisements in VDr are essential to keep these forums free to use. But the latest moves to put the Ads in the top right corner, shortening the reply box has upset many. In order to see just how many are for/against this move, I am making this poll. I am hoping to get as many answers as possible.

On top is my first choice by a vast margin.
My second choice would be on the right, but of a consistent and quite narrow width. That's probably harder to do since it requires getting specifically sized artwork from your advertisers.
Thanks for asking.

I do not care where the ads are as long as they do not simultaneously use up the whole column underneath as blank space.

I think that the ads should be well designed and be at the top or at the bottom of the discussion thread.

In IE, you can click on VIEW->Text size and adjust the heck out of the pages.
Or hold your CTRL key and use your scroll wheel
If you're happy and you know it......it's your meds.

I don't care how you do it... there are horizontal ads, and there are vertical ads. But the big block ad that is currently in use is the the worst.
Replace it with a tall, thin vertical ad along the right side, keyword thin.
Or, use a horizontal ad up top and allow the forum area to have the width of the screen below...
Or, if the block ad stays... then there's one solution. There are a number of pages where the impact of the block ad is not really that horrible. Until you get to the actual thread, once you get into the thread for a particular question simply remove the ad from that page view. Or, change the ad for the thread page view to a horizonal ad up top.
The current situation is pretty horrible.

I preferred them at the top and bottom as they were before, as a lot of others have said, but I voted for "I don't care", and here is why.
Not being an advertiser but trying to think as one, I would want them right where they are, where they are most visible. Afterall, I'm paying to have it displayed in the hopes and chance that it will be seen by potential consumers. So when I saw the new board and the placement of the ads I figured this was the reason for it.
As I said, I don't like them where they are either, but what I do like is free, and being able to come here and obtain this invaluable, free information that I so often do, I really don't care where they are if it if it keeps things rolling along as they are.
And that is why I voted for "I don't care"...just keep it FREE.

I voted for the top of the page like it used to be. But I'd also be happy for them to be at the bottom after the last post on a page.
After all if you read all posts you will end up at the bottom of the page and if you actually post to a thread you will end up at the bottom of the page.

I would prefer them at the top of the page because when they are at the side it narrows my view of the forum pages themselves causing me to have to use the scroll bar at the bottom of my browser, scrolling right, left, right, left, to read the posts.
God save thee Windows users, from the fiends that plague thee thus.
