Zone Alarm (Free) and Windows XP
After installing ZA 7 in my Windows XP (no Service Pack 2) my Internet browsing became unusable, most sites were "Not Found". After fighting it for about a week, installed Sygate (free) and the improvement was unbelievable. Tried IE, Firefox and Mozilla, all had the same problem with ZA.
Anyone else had problems with ZA?

Could be several things. Sometimes something as simple as uninstalling and reloading a program can clear up troubles. The latest ZA release is 5.5.062.011. See here.
I like ZoneAlarm but there's nothing wrong with Sygate either. Each has their fans...

Thanks HAN, I reinstalled ZA , both old and new versions, same problems. Guess I'll stay with Sygate. On a second computer with Win 2000, ZA works just fine.

I think we all run into these kinds of issues...
I recently tried to install/test FProt antivirus on my Win 98SE PC. FProt is pretty highly recommended and is supposed to be very resource friendly. The only problem was that it wouldn't even catch the eicar.com test virus in real-time. At least not on my PC! This is just something I couldn't accept. And to make me feel even worse, while my PC doesn't like FProt, I daily read of scads of other users who have no issues at all and are very happy with it.
In the end, I just chalked it up to my luck!
