Winxp machine rebooting when plugging in usb drive

this from a client of mine:

Machines are:
MBoard - MS-6340 - latest bios and latest drivers
Ram - 128MB
OS - XP SP2 Latest windows update

Room full with the same image, same problem on all.

When i plug in the usb drive the machine detects it fine, install the drivers for it, it even comes up in windows explorer for a split second. Then the machine reboots.

My shout for whoever can solve this for me (although you have to get Mt Gambier somehow :P )

Obviously I really dont want to re-make the image again =[

Well it turns out that the problem was the video driver that windows automatically used.

I installed an older one for the onboard video and it worked.

Thats what i get when i trust microsoft to know what drivers it should use......

Glad to see you found a solution!
I am always amused (and this is easily done) when XP installs a driver right from the XP CD and then XP asks if you are sure you want to install this driver since it has not passed the compatibility stuff. You would think the drivers on the XP CD would at least be compatible!
