    Another FirFox-VDR Problem

A few weeks/months ago, I reported problems with my FF (versions from 0.8 to pr1) becoming slugish when viewing the VDR site.. At the time we narrowed it down to the Advertisements on the site (useing Flash animations)..

After a few entries to my Hosts file.. all has been well very well indeed.. especially after adding a few extra sites..those known to deliver spyware (btw.. don't let the hosts file get to big it will slow your browsing)

BUT.. in the last week I have encountered a fresh problem.. and after ellimination I have come down to VDR as the primary trigger..

When FF starts I normaly have 6 site in favorites open in tabs.. and these are normaly open with in 10-15secs.. but now.. All pages will stop loading after 5 seconsd.. and FF will Lock..that is lock solid..

After ellimination I have narrowed it down to VDR as being the Trigger.. and have confirmed on another machine.

Cleared the cookies, java cache.. While I suspect a video card problem in this machine, the same can't be said for the other machine (my work machine)..

So my Question.. Anyone else encountering this problem.. or have any sugestions.. to get FF working with VDR?

    system Specs:
    Amd XP2000+
    512Mb ddr 2100
    120gb + 80Gb Seagate HDD's
    Leadtek GForce TI4200 128Mb
    Gigabyte GA-7VRXP mobo
    Win XP Pro SP2

oh AVG7, spysweeper, adaware se v1.05, Spybot S&D all updated and run regularly.. also Asquared run weekly.. video drivers are updated to nVidia v61.77..

    cheers

I have stopped using FireFox because of these and other problems. I'm now using the full Mozilla suite version 1.7.3. It runs extremely well. The only site I have problems with is this one. It's the Java scripted ads they have running here. I've asked the mods in the forum about it and they say they're looking into it-what ever that means. I still have Mozilla Firebird installed and use it often., but am mainly using Mozilla.

Sorry about the delay updateing this problem..

The main cause of the problem appears to be driver related.. Both machines had a problem with their video cards or drivers.. my work one is working well, home is..now so well.. it seems I have a dodgy VidCard.. GF4-Ti4200.. 18mths and 3rd failure.. and it is causing other issues now.. so in the bin and Time to give a ATI a go..

Can't understand why.. VDr site caused the prob.. .. and not random video related failures... oh well thats computers

    Cheers
