    Prob with Scanner, Canon, software

I have been using a Canon Scanner, 670U for some time, then had a problem and am trying to re-install the software. Completely disconnected scanner, reconnected it, and began re-installing software - using the orig CD ROM to load this software, but can't get it done. After clicking on the 'install software' - it seems to load, but after it finishes, I begin to get error messages stating different files could not be found: File CNQL 20.DAT; CANOIT 32.EXE; CISDS.DS; ETC., OVER AND OVER again for many files including .dll's. and no matter what I do, have same problem. Message says to insert the disk, which I have already done. Canon website no help.
    All help appreciated.
    Thanks, Norm72

Canon suggests your remove the scanner in Device Manager and restart your computer. Then try to install the software. Do you have the lastest driver 7.03.x from Canon?

    prob with scanner

    Photolady,
Thanks for the response. I have uninstalled and re-installed the scanner via system-device manager, and add/remove program - as well as by use of the cd-rom that has an uninstall feature. I suspect that there is a corrupt file somewhere. And have also downloaded and installed the updated 7.03 drivers from the Canon website several times. I wonder if use of my other scanner software - Visioneer - would work?. Its been in the closet where its been since I began using the Canon scanner.
Once again I appreciate the response and invite suggestions.
    Thanks, Norm72.

Well, you can't use another scanner's software to run your Canon. You can try using Twain in your image editing software such as irfanview or photoshop, or psp.

Have you tried checking the registry for remnants left from uninstaling canon's software?
