Uninstalled Music Match, but...

Courtesy of Dell (when I recently bought a PC), MusicMatch Jukebox was installed at the factory. Since I doubt I will ever use it , I went to Control Panel|Add/Remove Programs and uninstalled it. I also unchecked the box for "mmtask" in MSCONFIG|StartUp, although the line still exists.
So I was surprised the other day to find a folder (about 1.6MB in size) called MusicMatch Jukebox in C:\Program Files. It is full of files and, while I would not know, I suspect it is the full MM program, although there are no .dll files. I could see no UnWise.exe or Uninstall.exe, but there is a file named Unmatch.exe. MM no longer appears in Add/Remove Programs. It is not in Start|All Programs, nor is it running in TaskManager. But there are several references in the Registry and, as mentioned, the line for mmtask still is in MSCONFIG.
I guess it is not hurting anything, and I have plenty of space on the HD, but it seems silly to keep a program that I do not plan to use, and now am not sure how to access.
Can I just delete (shudder) the folder***, is unmatch.exe the uninstall file, or?

those files may be user configuration files or something..
and it sounds like unmatch is the uninstaller..

umm, I'm not sure but I seem to remember that mmtask does not relate to musicmatch. In any case I would try renaming the MM folder for a while before zapping it alltogether.

You might want to try jv16 PowerTools. Homepage is at http://www.jv16.org/ but the old (I think still freeware) version can be found at
http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=jv16. You may also be able to find a copy somewhere of its freeware precursor, Regcleaner. If it can't uninstall a program, it is really good at getting rid of registry entries, even for progs you thought you had completely uninstalled long ago.

Byan--That link is interesting. My MSCONFIG|StartUP indicates that mmtask.exe is in the MMJukebox folder, but when I look at that folder, it is not there (any longer?). However, I do I have mmtask.exe in several of the WinXP systems folders. Sounds like Control Panel|Add/Remove Programs effected only a partial uninstall of MMJ.

seems that mmtask.tsk is a windows service for 9x and mmtask.exe is the file your talking about...
if you look at my link you'll see it says mmtask.tsk...

I really wounder why the heck music match did that..., sounds like they want there process to go mistake for a windows one so it isn't disabled...
