    Free Newsserver

    Hi Friends,

I've been away from VDr for a good while. During that period, I've moved from Oregon to Texas, and it's good to be back in my old "stomping grounds!"

There are some newsgroups that I'd like to subscribe to and begin reading again. My current ISP does not provide a newsserver, so if you know of a free one that I can utilize, I'm all ears. Thanks!

    Happy Computing!

Hey hey, Welcome back Limerick! Wondering where you (and your Pink Panther) had wandered off to.

Here's a link to a list of Free News Servers:

Many thanks to both Vernon and Nick for the replies. I see that there are indeed a lot of such free newsservers available. I've tried a couple of them, only they will not allow me to post to them. That is not what I want, so I'm still looking for one that I can both read and post to.

I appreciated the kind words of birthday greetings on the recent 22nd observance of my 39th birthday! I'd better brush up on Texas law. Heck, it may be against some sort of state ordinance to be as old as I am!

Although not technically free -- there's a one-time $3.95 set-up fee but no ongoing costs -- you may wish to try TeraNews. They allow posting on the free accounts. Downloads are limited to 50MB per day, so it wouldn't be suitable for much binary usage (but great for fills), but that's plenty for the text-based groups.

    Welcome back...

Thanks for the reply, NoBob. I looked at that one, and pondered it a bit. Then I noted that SuperSparks had posted again.

I just now used that server and see that I can both read and post. This is excellent! Hats off to you, Nick!
