Urgent help with this one please!

    Hello

I'm really stuck with this one. My brother's computer is a Pentium 233, 32 Mb Ram, 2 Gig Hdd and Win95 (I'm not sure which version) I've just finishing formatting his hard drive because of all his crap on his computer. The problem is I can't boot from a Win95A or B boot disk or a Win98 boot disk. I must tell you first that I installed a NIC first before I formatted. I've done this a couple of times with my Win98SE computer and have had no problems.

I'm totally confused on this one. Can anyone please help me with this one?

What happens when you try to boot? What messages (if any) appear on the screen? More info needed please.

Sorry I just get the "Invalid system disk" error message with all the boot disks and even without a disk.

Check the BIOS setup to make sure the the boot sequence is set for A: drive first, then C: drive. Also, make sure your boot diskettes work (on another PC). If the diskettes work on another PC, and the A: drive light comes on but the PC won't boot from the floppy, and the boot sequence is set correctly, you may have a floppy drive problem.

The Bios is setup fine. The boot disks work on my computer. I swapped the floppy disk drive with my one and it works fine. Any other suggestions?

If you are getting an 'Invalid System Disk' error, then either the floppy drive is not being used for the boot process, or the diskettes are not being read correctly. If the diskettes are OK and the drive works on another PC, then the system is not set to boot from the floppy drive. Try disconnecting all drives except the floppy drive and see what happens.

jcd2000 thanks for your help but I've solved the problem. In the Bios I changed the sequence to CDRom,C,A and now I can boot from the CDRom and I'm going to install Win98FE.

I did try to boot to the C: drive before but because I formatted the whole thing it wouldn't work.

    Thanks again.

Just a quick note it was the floppy drive after all that. I accidentally loosened the wire when removing some Ram modules.

    Thanks
