Can not restore "big problems"
I have had problems running programs latley so I tried to run system sestore but it will not work. It tells me that I am unable to restore from any point. My Norton SystemsWorks has stopped working along with my anti virus, ghost etc. I have a ghost backup image but I am unable to retrive it. I tried to re-install systemWorks but it will not let me? I can not run restore or retrive my ghost image. Something went very wrong and now I am not able to fix either problems

What happens when you try to retrieve the Ghost image? Can you see the image file on the hard drive, or on CD-R? If so then you may need to run Ghost from a floppy in DOS.

Hi,
C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\ETC\Hosts
Open your hosts file in Notepad. It should look something like this when you open it:
# Copyright (c) 1998 Microsoft Corp.
# This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP stack for Windows98
# This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
# entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
# be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
# The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
# space.
# Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
# lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
# For example:
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
127.0.0.1 localhost
Remove any other entries after this and Save it
DO NOT delete the 127.0.0.1 localhost.
If your hosts file was OK, try this

I can no longer access ghost through win xp. I ghost imaged to a external hard drive through my notebook and when I use a floppy to retrieve my image it will not recognize the external drive??

Well if you didn't make an emergency Ghost boot floppy, you're going to have to install Ghost on another PC and make one, and include the appropriate drivers for the external drive. You'll find the Boot Wizard in the Ghost Utilities section.

After several tries I managed to get systemWorks re-installed. Now if I can restore my ghost image I should be back to normal operating conditions... I still can not do a Win XP system restore....

I can not run a repair of XP on my notebook because XP is installed with a manufacture recovery disk.

And if you use the recovery disk, won't that restore back to original manufacturer settings? Although, this would also probably delete anything else you've installed afterward, it should still fix your problems.
