    There is a registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\UrlTemplate that has the following in it:

    Code:
    "1"="www.%s.com"
    "2"="www.%s.org"
    "3"="www.%s.net"
    "4"="www.%s.edu"
    If I type in something the status bar on my IE5.5 shows as it checks the entered value at each address format substituting what I typed for the %s

    Hi , it is best if you give us as much detail about your problem as you can, particularly what version of IE and what OS you have. If it is IE 6 and or XP or 2k, then this should help
    (copy and paste all this ):-

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\Prefixes]
    "ftp"="ftp://"
    "gopher"="gopher://"
    "home"="http://"
    "mosaic"="http://"
    "www"="http://"

    Copy and paste the above as is into notepad, save as url.reg and save to desktop. Double click on desktop icon and merge into registry.
