What is kdx
I noticed in the Windows dir that I have a dir called kdx and there's a khost.exe file and kpgreader.exe and .dll files. What is this? In the bottom right I have a blank icon I can't see but if I point my mouse on the blank spot it says secure delivery.
Should I delete it as stated below?
And now I get Khost has caused an error in KHOST.EXE
Khost will now close. If you continue to experience problems, try restarting your computer.
I've also went into msconfig and disabled it in the startup to see if it still starts up.
I removed secure delivery in add remove programs.
Found this after a search on Khost.
Question
How did the Secure Delivery Plug-In get on my computer?
Answer
The Secure Delivery Plug-In is used by a number of companies to enable users to download content from their web sites. When a user requests content from their site, if the system finds that the Secure Delivery Plug-In has not been installed, the system will prompt the user to install the program before it attempts to download the content. The content provider may set up their site such that all content must be delivered using the Secure Delivery Plug-In or they may select only certain areas or specific items to be downloaded through the Secure Delivery Plug-In.
You may have installed the Secure Delivery Plug-In while accessing content from such companies and web sites as CNET, Download.com, GameSpot, ZDNet, or one of the many other companies that use the Secure Delivery Plug-In.
The installation of the Secure Delivery Plug-In is designed to be quick and unobtrusive, to provide for the quickest delivery of the content to the user. The installation process can take less than a minute and only a few mouse clicks. However, if a user quickly clicks through the dialog boxes, without stopping to read them, they may not be aware that they are installing the program onto their computer.
If you wish to uninstall the Secure Delivery Plug-In, the instructions are available online at: http://help.kontiki.com/enduser/category.jsp?node=4140
If you encounter any problems while using or uninstalling the program, please contact Kontiki Support through the links on this site.

It's a new thing (like a download manager) that CNET, Download.com, etc. have been using. You get it every time you download something from them. You can uninstall it, but when you download something from their websites again, you'll get the downloader back again.
Yes, it's free. Yes, your computer has to be on while downloading (and connected to the internet). I don't know how secure it is.
