Will not install....ATI Rage Pro 128 - 32MB- AGP VIVO?
Howdy,
I trying to install this video card into: Soyo 7IZB+ mobo, Celeron 533mhz, 256 MB ram, Windows 98, IE5.5 SP2, DirectX7.0, AT case with 250w PS.
I have downloaded the recommended drivers from the AIT site and they will load but when I go back to set the display (16bit and 800x600) the computer will not load Windows. The screen goes black and that's that.
The computer works great with a 4MB Trident but my little boy wants to play FALL of the EMPIRE and it takes 16MB video memory.
Any suggestions...please. And, I AIN'T interested in being able to watch TV with this.

You're trying to load driver version 4.13.7192? If so, to start with that requires at least Directx 8.0.

Hello..to both of you! And, thanks....I'm going to install Directx 8.1 and the Video driver that "Doc" suggested and see happens.
I had loaded the alternate video driver that uses Dx7.0.
Also, I want to put Dx9 on another computer but, when I downloaded it to disk it was only 293KB. Which verson of "9" should I use??

The 293kb file you got for DirectX 9 is just an installer. When you run it it will download the rest of the directx files and do the install.
If ya want, there shouldn't be any harm in installing directx 9 instead of 8.1 on the machine with the Rage 128 card.

If you'd like, you can dn/load the full redistributable version of 9b here and not have to mess with the installer.

DrMDJ and Ridgerunr---Thank you both very much!!
I installed the vid card, installed DirectX 9 per Ridgerunr's direction, and used the driver as advised by DrMDJ. Fired it up and I may never see my son again....he is very busy with the RISE OF NATIONS!!
