My Thread Disappeared
My thread I fell Asleep At My Computer http://discussions.virtualdr.com/sho...hreadid=159295 has disappeared.
I got the following notification:
but when I click on the link I get a page telling me I don't have permission to access the page.
I can't find the thread through search either ?
Was it offensive ?
No one told me it was of all the people who responded.
Any ideas ?

I would have thought locking it would suffice if that was the case ?
Maybe a courtesy PM to explain what had happend ??
I thought I had enough standing in these forums to at least expect that ?
Just deleting it or 'hiding' it though with no explanation though is reminiscent of some sort of CIA / FBI cover up or protected witness scheme where people just disappear.
Disappointing really.

We had debated this the other week and it seems some moderators PM the originator of the post and some do not but it is done so as a courtesy not an obligation.

And yes, before everyone jumps on the soap box, I know the moderators can choose to do what they like when they like but as I said a simple courtesy PM would have been nice especially for a member who is in the top 30 posters and I believe, has provided much assistance over the last couple of years.

Well apparently I'm not even deserving of that.
I'm to easy going to take it to badly and will move on, but I can see why some members have been burnt in the past and thus no longer contribute to the forums.

Nix, im sorry if you feel slighted because your thread was removed. I have to say that the off topic threads have been starting to get out of hand recently, you have to understand that the owners of this sight were very adamant about not having any off topic at all in the VDR forums. I felt we needed to have something to let the members unwind a little bit & have some fun. I have been allowing birthday threads, as it shows members that they do indeed have friends here & sorta gives the forums a bit of a more human feeling.
If people continue to go against what has been setup for OT which is one thread a week on fridays the owner are going to come down heavy on me & im sure that they will outlaw any OT at all. I tried to work this out so it would be fair to all the members but if it keep causing problems here my hands are gonna be tied & I wont be able to fix it. BJ

Thanks BJ, I do understand, although I'm probably coming across a bit negative in some of my posts today.
I think I was more disappointed at the fact that I didn't get an explanation of what had happened to the thread and luckily 104456 knew it had been locked / removed for being OT.
I will continue to do my best to assist others, try not to start OT threads and....
not fall asleep at my PC

Hi Nix, as long as you fall asleep by your computer and not with your computer then we will not have to worry about you.

Too bad the site isn't owned by volunteers instead of just staffed and maintained by them
