    Connecting to internet with IE

A friend asked this question....He has dial-up and wants it to connect to internet when he clicks on IE. What settings need to be checked for that...been a while since I've been on dial up. Thanks

Don't remember much about it either..

S/he's signed up at an ISP already right? Then he should have password, username, and possibly an IP, or DSN, etc numbers as well that he will need to sign on.
Once he's got all that he should be able to go to Control Panel/Network Connections, and create a new connection by inputting all the info he has.
Generally, the ISP he/she has subscribed to should have provided some setup instructions...
I hope this helps your friend at least start heading in the right direction.. it's been a while since I was on dial-up too!

they have a connection already but doesnt want to go thru the isp connection, he just wants to click on IE and have it dial for him.... I think he has to go to internet options to connection and make sure it always dials his default connection.

    Yep,

In internet options, make sure the connection to be dialed is the default, and also check "always dial default", on the programs tab check "internet explorer should check to see it is the default browser"

Make sure to hit Apply to any changes

You may possibly want to tell us who the isp is and whether any software was installed, as any changes done manually could be over ridden.
