Hi, give your cd a good clean (someone posted here how to, but no one responded so I assume you all know how). If this is a copy CD then that's the problem.

Nice to see someone is awake down under. thanks for the advise.
I just recently purchased the new win2K prof software, so it is mine.
This is the third time trying to install it and never got a clean install without errors during the install.
I got some cleaning wipes in a package and cleaned them.
Thinking of getting one of those cleaners you put the CD in and spin it around, and may get the one that puts a new coat on the data side.
Anyone have results with them?
I went ahead and skipped those errors by hitting ESC.
Now I just get one on restart. It is as follows:
Win logon.exe-unable to locate DLL. The DLL TXFAUX.DLL could not be located in the specified path; C:\winnt\system32... and a long list of more.
I just installed Nortons system works 2003, and am seeing if it finds any errors now.
It found 42 errors in 4 catagories when I ran it from the disk, and fixed all.

Hi!
Sometimes when you have these sorts of problems you will have to install other than by booting the CD.
Get an old Win98 bootfloppy and ensure it has both fdisk, format, smartdrv, xcopy and CD drivers on it. Then use that to partition and format the hard drive and use xcopy (/e) to copy the i386 folder off the CD onto the hard drive. Once done, you can start the install with i386\winnt.exe off the hard drive. Ensure you have run smartdrv.exe before you run xcopy.exe or you'll be there all day...
Best wishes,
Andrew

thanks Andrew, i went ahead with the installation that night by "skipping" the two files that could not be copied. so far everything seems to be working ok. I think the fp one was something to do with Front Page, not sure.
Now the only unusual thing is the Error that comes up everytime I start up.
It is what I showed above for something to do with the Log on process i think.
I am communicating online now with the PC in Question, and everythins so far looks good.
I installed Nortons system works 2003, and as I type am downloading the Critical Updates from Microsoft.
I also think I will get the Free version of Zone Alarm, unless someone knows another product that is Free or Shareware and works good or better than Zone Alarm.
