No system beeps for Block Breaker game :(
I have the old Windows Entertainment Pack game, Block Breaker (anyone remember that?). It plays just fine in XP except for one thing, no system beeps from the box speaker. It used to beep in 95/98. Is this a compatability issue between BB and XP? I found this file beep.sys in a Windows search. If I loaded, it could that force XP to play the system beeps for my game?

If its an old DOS based game, compatibility mode wont let the program have exclusive hardware access for stability issues

It's not a DOS game. It's a Windows 3.1 game.

If I remember correctly...Windows 3.1 is not a true operating system it is just a shell over the DOS operating system. I think I would have to agree with Spooky Man G about the compatibility mode for that.

yes, you are right Luke, 3.1 was not a real OS. Remember the computer would start up, and you had to get to the DOS prompt, then type "win" I believe it was.

Our computers at school went straight into Win3.1, but probably cuz of the AUTOEXEC.BAT file (remember that one folks?). Yeah I guess maybe some of the old games that used the system speaker just won't work well in XP, soundwise.
