Closing "questionable" threads?

Is it not possible that being under pressure to get this completed on time he started to explore other avenues for answers? there are many reasons he could have stopped responding not least of which is being put off after being called a cheater, a plagerist (sp?) and a hack.

The main reason is we don't communicate in the correct manner and blame each other for not reaching a conclusion.

As I have said before, the next time a thread is closed and you are unable to understand why, ask.

Everyone gets critisised during their lifetime no matter what it may be and naturally that will put you under some pressure. However, when it happens and you know you are right you should say so and explain how you feel and exactly what you want or want to know, not run away with your tails between your legs because someone has not given the answer you wanted.

I agree with your most reasonable and mature response Jolly. Unfortunately we're talking about a school kid here. Our kind of thinking comes with age.

I'm not having a go at you but how did you and I learn, we were once kids and we learned the hard way, no internet, go out and learn, wasn't it.

Very much the truth. I say very much the truth. Good lord I sound like Fred Elliot. Mind you when I had to do surveys that couldn't be done through, or should I say with, family members it was a lot safer to talk to strangers for a whole lot of reasons.

I quite agree but, obviously he was too lazy to get off his butt and do it, the easy way was to sit in front of a comp. and let someone else do it for him.

I have three sons all in business together and when I ask them a arithmetical question they have to get a calcuator out. When I say you can work it out without a calculator my wife says ' why do you need to know' when you've got a machine to do it for you'.

The lot doesn't make sense to me.

That's my two pence worth anyway, I don't want a machine to control me, just help me when I need it.

I know I've gone off the thread but, reverting back:

If you want to know why a thread has been closed/locked, then ask.

True, but why is it SO DIIFICULT for the mod's to just include a tiny little one-liner? When a thread is closed without explanation a member can only ask by either starting a new thread (just to ask why) or PM the mod. Either way is no good. I just don't see why is it such a big deal for a mod. to write, "your post is edited/deleted because you've viloated this particular clause/phrase in the AUP."

To further what BJ said. When I close a thread I say why I'm closing it in the thread. Sometimes more than a one-liner.

You are always good about that but, unfortuantely, I can't say this about some other mod's.

Let me put it this way, the author of this thread had nothing whatsoever to do with the thread that was closed. That was the main reason I replied the way I did to begin with. If the poster of the thread had pm'd me & explained what he was doing. plead his case in other words, im more than a fair person & if he came up with a good argument I may have reconsidered, but low & behold I never heard a thing from that person. If any of you have the same issues I would recommend handling it this way & you will get a lot further with me instead of the way flachebag handeled it. BJ
